Museum Moms (and babies)

Quinn and I have really enjoyed making some new mommy friends here in Brooklyn.  Having things to do during the days with other moms who understand the joys of diaper blowouts, are likely to have whatever is missing from our diaper bag and understand why you can’t sit down or the baby will cry has been invaluable in making these first few months of motherhood so enjoyable.

Museum Moms

On Wednesday six of us made a group pilgrimage to the Whitney Museum in Manhattan.  This was a big trip. Not only did we take the subway en masse but we took it all the way to the Upper East Side.  After a quick snack for the babies, we then maneuvered our babies through the Calder exhibit.  One might think that two month olds have little to gain from looking at art.  But actually, all the two month old does is look.  Quinn looks at books (if we hold them up and turn the pages), he looks at himself in the mirror and he loves to look at us and smile.  Sure enough, he looked at the art with his big surprised eyes and was a perfect angel.  Until he fell asleep halfway through the exhibit.  Oh well.

Quinn and I then went on to meet up with Mike at our friends’ apartment for dinner.  It was a long day for Quinn (and his mom!) but he conducted himself well.  We all fell into bed later that night tired, happy and thrilled to have been out in the world despite the cold.
